Spectrum of the relic neutrino background from past supernovae and cosmological models

چکیده
It is greatly expected that the relic neutrino background from past supernovae is detected by Superkamiokande (SK) which is now under construction. We calculate the spectrum and the event rate at SK systematically by using the results of simulations of a supernova explosion and reasonable supernova rates. We also investigate the e ect of a cosmological constant, , on the spectrum, since some recent cosmological observations strongly suggest the existence of . We nd following results. 1) The spectrum has a peak at about 3 MeV, which is much lower than that of previous estimate (6 10 MeV). 2) The event rate at SK in the range from 10 MeV to 50 MeV, where the relic neutrinos from past supernovae is dominant, is about 25h50 2 RSN 0:1yr 1 n G h 3 50 0:02Mpc 3 events per year, where RSN is the supernova rate in a galaxy, nG is the number density of galaxies, and h50 = H0= (50km/s/Mpc), where H0 is the Hubble constant. 3) The event rate is almost insensitive to . The ux increases in the low energy side (< 10 MeV) with increasing , but decreases in the high energy side (10 MeV <) in models in which the integrated number of supernovae in one galaxy is xed.

Relic neutrino background from cosmological supernovae
Present and future observations of supernova relic neutrinos (SRNs), i.e., a cosmological neutrino background from past core-collapse supernova explosions, potentially give us useful information concerning various fields of astrophysics, cosmology and particle physics. We review recent progress of theoretical and observational studies of SRNs, particularly focusing on the detectability and also...
متن کاملCosmological Implications of a Relic Neutrino Asymmetry
We consider some consequences of a cosmological lepton asymmetry in the form of neutrinos. A relic neutrino degeneracy enhances the contribution of massive neutrinos to the present energy density of the Universe, and modifies the power spectrum of radiation and matter. Comparing with current observations of cosmic microwave background anisotropies and large scale structure, we derive some const...

I discuss the implications of neutrino oscillations for neutrino mass patterns and mass matrices, and for neutrinoless double beta decay. I then go on to discuss the implications for cosmological relic density and dark matter, the galaxy structure limits on neutrino mass, nucleosynthesis, supernovae, cosmic rays and gamma ray bursts.
